WE BUILD TO SUIT
Casing Gas Recovery
Eagle casing gas Fuel Conditioning Units were first put into service in Alberta over 25 years ago. As of 2025, there are over 2000 units operating and recovering vented casing gas throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan.
The FCU unit takes annulus gas from the well at <5psig suction pressure and compresses the gas to over 120psig, at which point the gas is conditioned, dried and metered for use on-site or sold to commercial pipelines. The condition of the gas is dry to less than 4lbs H2O/MMSCd (-32C@100psia) and is pipeline quality gas when it leaves our package.
Eagle FCU units will help you:
-
Comply with the new venting regulations of Directive 060: Upstream Petroleum Industry Flaring, Incinerating, and Venting
-
Offset or eliminate Propane usage
-
Generate revenue from a previously vented gas source
-
Enhance and improve oil production on heavy oil wells
Fuel Conditioning Units (FCU's)

Fuel Conditioning Units (FCUs) play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of fuel gas before it is fed to a sales gas pipeline or used in natural gas engines at the well pad. By improving fuel quality, FCUs help ensure the efficient and reliable operation of equipment while also maximizing the recovery of valuable resources. These systems are designed to take low-pressure gas, typically from sources like well annulus, and compress it to a higher pressure. The gas is then passed through a series of filters and gas dryers to remove moisture and impurities. This process transforms what would otherwise be a waste by-product into a valuable resource suitable for use on-site or for transport through commercial pipelines, thus enhancing both efficiency and profitability in oil and gas operations.

Fuel Conditioning Unit Vac (FCU-V)

The Fuel Conditioning Unit Vac (FCU-V) is a specialized variation of the standard FCU, designed for applications where it is necessary to reduce pressure to a vacuum. In certain heavy oil wells, the presence of pressure on the annulus can negatively affect oil flow. The FCU-V addresses this issue by decreasing the pressure in the well to a vacuum, which not only enhances oil production but also enables 100% gas recovery. This vacuum-assisted design is particularly beneficial in maximizing resource recovery and optimizing well performance, leading to increased productivity and improved operational efficiency.
